Thanks to our Volunteers~
On Sunday December 4th I was invited to help the S.T.A.T. Program with a stocking stuffing campaign. S.T.A.T. is Operation S.T.A.T. (Standing Tall for America’s Troops), a non-profit organization that was formed in 2011 in Cleveland, Ohio. Their mission is to honor the brave men and women who served selflessly to protect the freedoms we often take for granted and to ensure that our veterans are not forgotten. In 2014, the first chapter in New Jersey was started right here in Bethlehem Township.
Cynthia Tumulty-Ollemar -President of the local organization, her mother Carol, and Virginia Wilson along with several other friends and community members have been planning and organizing the event which culminated on Sunday with the stuffing over 400 stocking with cards, candy, treats, and other items to be given to Veterans. Cards were made by our Conley and Hoppock students and also included cards the volunteers made that day during the event.
As I entered the Municipal Building I was surprised (though I should not have been) to see so many parents, Board Members, students (BT, North and Union Township), Girl Scouts and Brownies (leaders and members), volunteers, and community members working together like a well-oiled machine preparing the items to be put in stockings in organized stations. After the items were placed in stations the volunteers took stockings to each station and "stuffed" them with treats. The entire time holiday music was playing, people were in and out helping with various tasks, and refreshments flowed to keep the group energized and focused on the mission at hand.
The stockings will be delivered to our veterans on Sunday December 11 by our amazing volunteers.
Since I began in our district in July we have seen so many service activities that have been initiated by our staff, students, parents and community members and I wanted to acknowledge the selfless people of our township and their dedication to helping others.
Below are pictures of Sunday December 4, 2016 where so many people came together to help:

I wish everyone a Happy Holiday season and a restful and enjoyable break.
